Though the storm and rain this weekend battered the plants and caused some flash flooding in the field, the plants appear to mostly have survived, and with sunny, cooler weather in the forecast for the whole week, hopefully things will continue to dry out! The caterpillar epidemic continues, and talking to other farmers in the area, this is a widespread problem this fall, as bad as I’ve ever seen it. We continue to wash the greens very thoroughly, hoping to get 99% of them before delivering them to you, but please continue to wash and inspect your produce thoroughly, and if we’ve missed something you think we should be aware of, please let us know! There are more greens on the list this week, and hopefully a wide range of lettuces will be back on the list next week. And we continue to have peppers, eggplant, and okra, though with the cooler weather they won’t be around much longer. The okra has really slowed down, and there may not be any more after this week.
